How Photo Security & Stripe Work

Upload: Staff uploads photos. Full-res originals go to Google Drive. ThrillShots stores only a file reference — the raw file is never in a public URL.

Magic link: Each group gets a unique token URL like /g/abc123xyz. It is tied to exactly one group — if a guest shares it, others only ever see that group's photos. No cross-group access is possible.

Watermarked previews: Guests see server-side watermarked, low-res JPEGs. The original file is never exposed. Saving the preview gives only a useless watermarked copy.

Stripe payment: Guest checks out. Stripe fires a checkout.session.completed webhook to your server containing the group ID, guest email, and photo IDs purchased.

Watermark removal: Webhook receipt marks those photo IDs as purchased: true for that guest. Next gallery load renders those photos without watermark and shows a full-res download button.

Secure download: Downloads are served as signed, time-limited Drive URLs (15-min expiry). The guest gets the full-res file but the link cannot be reshared permanently.
